Automated labware, fed to your system.

thetaCaddy is a rotating labware carousel that stores up to 320 plates and presents them, one at a time, to most liquid handlers — extending walk-away time and buffering your instruments into one automated workflow.

Two variants

One carousel, two ways to integrate.

Both variants share the same ten-position turntable, capacity and control interface — they differ only in how the unit mounts and hands labware to your liquid handler.

thetaCaddy BT Benchtop

Sits on the bench beside your liquid handler.

Integrates with most liquid handlers using either head grippers or eccentric grippers — and with standalone robotic arms. The carousel presents labware at its transfer position for the handler’s arm to pick and place.

Best when the handler (or a robot arm) can reach a benchtop hand-off point.

thetaCaddy DL Deck-loading

Installs beneath the bench or table.

Compatible with most liquid handlers, the deck-loading variant delivers labware up to the instrument deck — occupying just a single deck position on the handler, with no benchtop footprint beside it.

Best when bench space is tight or labware should arrive on the deck itself.

What thetaCaddy does

01

Walk-away, unattended operation

thetaCaddy feeds the liquid handler automatically, so runs continue overnight without an operator reloading plates — extending unattended “walk-away” time and buffering upstream and downstream instruments into one system.

02

High-density, reconfigurable storage

A ten-position turntable holds up to 320 plates. Four rack densities — 8, 10, 20 and 32 slots — are mixable across positions to fit labware from 10 mm to 70 mm tall.

03

Vendor-neutral integration

A simple master/slave command model pairs thetaCaddy with virtually any liquid handler or scheduler — Tecan, Dynamic Devices, Beckman and most other commercially available liquid handlers, or a workcell running Green Button Go, Cellario or Momentum.

04

Drive it over a REST API

Beyond the RS-232 serial protocol, a REST gateway exposes plain HTTP/JSON — /retrieve, /store, /scan, /inventory and more — so integration is a web request, not raw bytes. A no-code Sequence Builder chains steps in the browser.

05

Barcode tracking with a full audit trail

An on-board 1D/2D scanner reads racks and consumables; the gateway database records which barcode sits in which slot and logs every scan, store, retrieve and move — an append-only, LIMS-ready system of record.

06

Timing intelligence, built in

The gateway times every motion and flags any run that exceeds its learned norm — an early warning of wear or a blockage, and the foundation for fleet-level predictive maintenance.

Rack densities

Match the rack to the labware.

Ten positions, four rack types — mix them freely to trade stack height for capacity.

thetaCaddy runs as a slave to your scheduler: any system that can send a serial command or make a web request can drive it — including workcell schedulers like Green Button Go, Cellario or Momentum. The gateway database is LIMS-ready, keyed on barcode.
